Stephen Shaffer - CFP®, AIF®
Partner, Director of Financial Planning
Steve embarked on his illustrious career as a professional pilot at the age of nineteen, initiating his flight training at F.I.T. in Melbourne, FL. This marked the beginning of a rewarding 40-year journey in aviation. Parallel to his aviation career, Steve carved out a significant niche in the financial services industry over a span of nineteen years. In 2004, he achieved a milestone by obtaining his Series 6 and 63 licenses, which propelled him into a pivotal role at a local financial planning firm. There, he was instrumental in the meticulous analysis and updating of client planning documents, mutual fund positions, life insurance policies, and annuities.
In a bold move in 2013, Steve shifted gears by resigning his FINRA license to establish himself as a solo financial planning practitioner. He obtained his Series 65 license and the esteemed CFP® (Certified Financial Planner) and AIF® (Accredited Investment Fiduciary) designations, setting the stage for the launch of his own venture with Latitude Advisors, LLC., as an Investment Advisor Representative. Specializing in serving airline pilots and other high-achieving professionals, Steve dedicated himself to the financial planning process and portfolio management, leveraging his unique perspective as both a pilot and financial advisor.
Steve’s academic journey is as diverse as his career, holding a Liberal Arts degree from Penn State, a B.S. degree in Aviation Technology, and a Financial Planning Certificate from Boston University’s Center for Professional Education.
Beyond his professional and academic accomplishments, Steve is a passionate skier, an avid golfer, and enjoys precious moments with his wife, three children, a grandchild, and his five pets. His commitment to community service is evident in his nearly two-decade-long tenure as an officer at a local charitable foundation focused on vision care, showcasing his dedication to making a meaningful impact in the lives of others.
